There is a new method to preserve and store lungs at 10 degrees rather than storing them on ice. There is evidence that 10 degrees can effectively preserve lung functions of longer periods of up to 36 hours. This means that lungs could be stored overnight for transplant during the day. The storage time of the organ will never be more than 12 hours. You will be given the option to discuss this process.
