Privacy notice

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to safeguarding the privacy of our website visitors.

Information we collect about visitors

Visitors who are not logged in

When someone visits transplant-resource.newcastle-hospitals.nhs.uk without logging in to use the Patient Workbook, we collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site and we collect this information in a way which does not identify anyone.

As with the majority of websites, there are some types of information which will be automatically tracked. This includes information about your computer and about your visits to and use of this website, such as your IP address, the website you have come from, the type of browser you are using, the searches you carry out, the length of your visit on our site and the number of pages you viewed.

We use this data internally to understand what kinds of information our visitors are looking for so that we can continually improve the content we provide on our website. This information does not contain any personal details and so you cannot be identified in any way.

Visitors who are logged in

If you have been provided with a unique URL and login to use this website, we’ll use that to collect and store some information about you as you work through the Patient Workbook. This data includes:

  • who you are, including your name and email address.
  • which other accounts are ‘connected’ to you, like you carer and other members of your support network.
  • your progress through the Workbook, i.e. how many chapters and pages you’ve completed
  • your interaction with the Workbook, i.e. how many of the recap pages you’ve completed, and what your selections were

When you’ve finished working through the Workbook, we’ll send a copy of your data to the transplant team at the Freeman Hospital. They’ll use this information to create a better experience for you during the assessment week.

Please remember the Internet is not always a secure medium and if you’re not sure about submitting any information, please contact us by post or telephone via our switchboard (0191) 233 6161 instead.
