We’re now offering video consultations for outpatient appointments. These can be accessed on our Newcastle Hospitals website, using a video meeting service called Attend Anywhere.
This service is free to use but you will need a good stable internet connection. The appointment will use a similar amount of data to a Skype or Facetime call.
Video calls are secure and your privacy is protected. You have your own private video room that only you and the authorised clinician can enter.
What you’ll need
You will need one of the following devices and a stable internet connection to access this service:
- A smart phone
- A tablet
- A laptop or a home computer with a camera, microphone, and speakers or headphones
How to access the service
Go to www.newcastle-hospitals.org.uk and click ‘Click here for your video appointment’. The service is compatible with Google Chrome and Apple Safari web browsers.
Before your video appointment
Before your appointment, please carry out a test call so we can check your device will work with our service.
On the day of your video appointment
Please have your appointment letter to hand, as you’ll require certain details in order to proceed. Go to the Newcastle Hospitals website and follow these steps:
- Select your appointment speciality from the following options:
- Lung transplant daycase assessment
- Cardio lung transplant assessment clinic
- Select the name of your clinician
- Enter the virtual waiting area by clicking ‘Start video call’
- Enter your name, date of birth, and telephone number when you are prompted, and click ‘Continue’
When your clinician is ready, they will join the call. Watch our for any messages sent by our staff which will appear on your video screen.

Please contact us if:
- You do not want to use the video service for your appointment
- You do not have a suitable device or you’ve had issues when attempting the test call
If we don’t hear from you, your appointment will go ahead as a video call appointment at the stated date and time.
